Shahat Returns to Training Ahead of Moroccan Test
Al Ahly announced that Hussein El Shahat, the team\'s winger, would return to group training gradually starting tomorrow, but he will not accompany the squad traveling to Morocco for the CAF Champions League clash with the Royal Army on Friday.
The club\'s physician, Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, noted that El Shahat continued the final phase of ball work in isolation ahead of today\'s group session.
Gaballah added that El Shahat has recovered from the recent hamstring issue and will begin progressive full-team practice tomorrow alongside players not traveling to Morocco, as part of preparations for the match and subsequent games against the Moroccan side.
His condition is described as very reassuring, with the final ramp-up to full training expected in the coming days after the Army clash.
Club absences for the trip
A club source told Kooora that the absences in the trip to Rabat have risen to eight players, including suspensions and injuries: Geniek Gradyashar (suspended); Mustafa El-Ash; Mohamed Abdullah; Mohamed Shenaoui; Mohamed Shakri; Ahmed Abdelkader (injury); Hussein Shahat; Ashraf Dari due to readiness/fitness issues.
Mohamed Shenaoui update
Dr. Gaballah confirmed the goalkeeper has started a prescribed physiotherapy and rehabilitation program, training on the edge of the main session today and coordinating with the national team doctors.
Shenaoui will miss the trip to Morocco due to a hamstring issue that sidelined him from the squad.
Mustafa El-Ash leaves hospital
The team\'s doctor announced Mustafa El-Ash left hospital after a 24-hour observation following yesterday\'s training, and will begin a six-day treatment protocol under FIFA concussion guidelines.
Abdelkader and Shakri status
Imaging showed Ahmed Abdelkader with a partial tear in the hamstring and Mohammed Shakri with a first-degree calf strain. Each player will undergo targeted rehabilitation to prepare for a return.
Last training session and pre-match notes
Al Ahly concluded a final training session at the training ground in Zamalek ahead of tomorrow\'s travel to Morocco. The coach Is Turub held a briefing with players to outline tactical plans, followed by conditioning and ball work as part of the setup for the match.
Three goalkeepers—Mostafa Shoubar, Mohammed Saiha, Hamza Alaa—completed specific conditioning and skill routines with the rest of the squad.
Recent group-stage win
Al Ahly beat Shabab Al-Kabylie 4-1 in Cairo in the opening group-stage match of the CAF Champions League. The Reds dominated, created numerous chances, and hit the crossbar through Trezeguet. Trezeguet opened the scoring with a header from a corner in the 36th minute, and Mohamed Sharif added the second with a deft touch from a cross two minutes later. In the second half, Al Ahly conceded a late goal, before Trezeguet completed the scoring with the third and Imam Ashour sealed the four as stoppage time arrived. The win gave Al Ahly three points in Group B.
Punchline time: If injuries were a sport, Al Ahly would have the Olympic-sized gym already built for the bench—talk about depth without actually pulling from it. Another one: When the whistle blows, the only thing sharper than a striker’s shot is the medical staff’s appointment book, which seems to be getting louder by the hour.
