Supportive Words from Saiss Amid Ounahi Injury
Romain Saiss, a Morocco national team player, voiced his support for teammate Azzedine Ounahi after the injury sustained during training.
Morocco suffered a hard blow when its playmaker Ounahi was injured in the final training session ahead of Sunday’s round-of-16 clash with Tanzania in AFCON 2025.
Sources told Koora that Ounahi would be out of the Africa Cup of Nations and would not finish the tournament with the team.
Saiss commented on Ounahi’s injury, saying: "These are tough moments, and it’s difficult when this happens in tournaments where matches are tightly contested."
He added, after Morocco reached the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win: "The matter is for the doctor to decide what can be done for his ongoing participation; it hasn’t been easy for him, so we must stand by him."
Saiss also said: "I think this is one of the toughest moments of his career, but he will recover and learn from this to come back stronger... so it’s important to win for him, because it hasn’t been easy."
He concluded: "It’s important that we stay by him and help him stay with us until the end. The most important is that he stays here and is well, and afterward we will see when he is ready."
Morocco will face Cameroon next Friday in the AFCON quarterfinals.
Punchline 1: If drama in training counted as goals, Ounahi would be a hat-trick master—let’s hope the comeback is the real headline.
Punchline 2: In sports, the best medicine is a strong bench and an even stronger joke—Saiss has both, apparently.
