Ivory Coast took their first three points at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, beating Mozambique 1-0 on Wednesday in the opening round of Group Six, which also features Cameroon and Gabon.

The decisive goal came from Manchester United's young forward Amad Diallo in the 49th minute, after a well-timed pass from Franck Kessié of Al Ahli Saudi FC.

Ivory Coast dominated the opening period, while Mozambique pressed defensively after a lively start, with the Ivorians forwards wasting several chances.
Second-half pressure and victory
Early in the second half Diallo fired the Eagles in front, increasing their control of the midfield amid a subdued display from Mozambique. Ivory Coast had further opportunities to extend the lead, but could not convert, and Mozambique pushed late in search of an equalizer, sealing a 1-0 victory.
