Egypt’s delegation exits Agadir with a ceremonial guard of honor.

Farewell in Agadir

Egypt's delegation left the Moroccan city of Agadir in the evening, after a warm, ceremonial guard of honor staged by hotel staff as they prepared to travel to Tangier.

Video circulated showing hotel workers and staff applauding the Pharaohs as they passed through a corridor of honor. The team heads to Tangier as they prepare for the Wednesday AFCON semi-final against Senegal.

Road to Tangier and the Semifinal

Egypt's journey at the tournament started with a group with 7 points after beating Zimbabwe and South Africa and drawing with Angola. They then beat Benin in the Round of 16 and Ivory Coast in the quarterfinals, to reach the last four in Morocco.

The Pharaohs hope to reclaim the continental title last won in 2010 in Angola.

Punchline: If defending were a sport, Egypt would already have the gold medal in the hotel lobby.

Punchline 2: The only thing heavier than a trophy might be a suitcase full of celebratory snacks.
