World Cup Buzz Pushes Tel Toward a January Exit from Tottenham

Transfer plans and World Cup timing
World Cup pressure pushes Mathys Tel to leave in winter.
The French striker Mathys Tel plans to depart Tottenham Hotspur during the ongoing winter transfer window, hoping to play regularly for another side before the 2026 World Cup.
The 20-year-old joined the Spurs last summer for 30 million pounds, after a brief loan spell with the club, arriving from Bayern Munich.
Current status and possible replacements
British newspaper Daily Mail reported that the London club could let the young player go in January, given he has started only five league games this season.
Tel has managed just three goals under Danish coach Thomas Frank, who does not rely on him as a regular starter.
Moreover, he was left out of the Champions League squad in September before returning in December to cover for the injured Dominic Solanke.
Tottenham are also pursuing Santos winger Sosa in this winter window.
Punchlines: If Tel leaves in January, Spurs bench time might finally get a boost. If not, keep your weather forecasts—they’ll be as useful as Tottenham's transfer window choices.
