Al Ahly clarifies its position amid Barcelona interest in Hamza Abdul Karim.

Al Ahly Responds to Barcelona Interest

Egyptian club Al Ahly SC has rejected rumors that it is blocking forward Hamza Abdul Karim’s potential move to Barcelona, insisting the reports are false.

A club source told KOOORA that no official and clear offer has been received from Barcelona to sign Hamza. What circulated was a WhatsApp message to a club official requesting a six month loan without a fee, with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Al Ahly replied via the same channel, asking for an official offer to be sent to the club’s known email. A further proposal arrived later through an intermediary company, but the club rejected the idea of a free loan.

The club stressed it wants a financial guarantee and a chance for the player to join the first team, noting that a Ghanaian player Abdul Aziz Aisi has a trial with Barcelona’s reserve team, keeping the option on the table as the club protects Hamza’s interests.

Meanwhile, Hamza’s agent has reportedly received other offers from the German Bundesliga and from other clubs, all currently under review and evaluation.

Contract Renewals at Al Ahly

Sayed Abdelhafiz, a board member, confirmed that the renewal file for first-team players is being prepared for decision in the coming hours. Several players’ contracts expire at the end of the season, including Hussein El Shahat, Mali’s Ayo Diang, Ahmed Nabil Coca, Ahmed Abdel Qader, and Ahmed Abdeen.

According to a well-placed source, Walid Salah El Din, the football director, has not reached any renewal agreement with these players since taking charge, though Karim Fouad renewed his contract after negotiations led by Mohamed Youssef, the sport director, before Walid’s arrival.

Abdelhafiz reportedly intervened personally as deputy supervisor of football and began meetings with players to resolve delicate issues. He indicated Hussein El Shahat is very close to signing a renewal, while talks continue with Abdel Qader and Diang.

The source added there is a sense of irritation within the club due to the delay, given Walid’s four months in charge without meaningful progress on this file.

Punchline 1: If transfer rumors were cash, the bank would need a new vault; as of now, no contract is signed and the door remains ajar for real offers.

Punchline 2: Barca wants a six month loan; Al Ahly wants a signed deal with cash; may the best negotiator bring the snacks and the paperwork.
