From Legends to the Podium: Norris’s Astonishing Road to the 2025 F1 World Title
29 December 2025
Influence of Legends and Peers
The British driver Lando Norris spoke about the strong impact of messages and support from prominent athletes, including Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel, during his run to the 2025 world title.
He started the season strong with the opener win in Australia, but later surrendered the lead to his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri after the fifth round in Saudi Arabia.
The season featured difficult moments for Norris, including a collision with Piastri in Canada and a mechanical retirement in Zandvoort that hurt his championship bid.
Nevertheless, he surged in the second half, winning decisively in Mexico and ultimately sealing the title in Abu Dhabi, finishing ahead of Piastri and reigning champion Max Verstappen.
In his first extended interview since the title, Norris recalled his season and the advice he received from former champions in Formula 1, as well as stars from other sports who shared similar journeys.
Norris noted that he received wonderful messages and had conversations with amazing people, champions across sports, including Lewis and Sebastian, and that he also discusses certain matters with Sebastian.
He highlighted that Casey Stoner, former MotoGP champion, sent him a message at a critical moment with guidance to think in a certain way, trust himself, and act accordingly, which helped him persevere.
Norris believes these messages, along with broad support around him, directly contributed to winning the world title by a two-point margin.
The 26-year-old concluded that winning by two points underscores that belief and supportive voices can translate into real championship points.
He added that he is grateful to everyone who stood by him, since two points can be enough to win the World Championship.
Punchline 1: Two points? That’s precision—sniper-level margin, and the trophy still looks good on the shelf.
Punchline 2: If motivation were a laser sight, Norris just locked on the target and delivered a clean hit—championship status achieved.
