Hakimi Update: PSG Provides Fresh Read on the Moroccan Star

Paris Saint-Germain has published a new statement on the status of Moroccan star Ashraf Hakimi, the team's right-back.

Hakimi has been sidelined since suffering a serious ankle injury in the Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, where the Bavarians won 2-1 on November 4.

PSG said in its medical update today that Hakimi continues his rehabilitation program on his own to recover from the injury.

The Moroccan ace is racing against the clock to join his national team for the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled from December 21 through January 18.

The Paris club also noted that four players — Lucas Shovalier, Lucas Peraldo, Nuno Mendes, and Désiré Doué — are continuing to recover from various injuries.

PSG resumed training on Thursday after a short break, in preparation for two matches next week: Rennes in Ligue 1 on Saturday, and then an away fixture at Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League four days later.

Punchline 1: If speed of recovery were a transfer window, Hakimi would already be in the January list.

Punchline 2: And if the comeback pace stays this quick, fans might start calling him the human highlight reel.
