Inter Milan Targets Guglielmo Vicario
An Italian sports report on Saturday claimed that Tottenham Hotspur's goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario wants to join Inter Milan this coming summer.
Sitting as Inter's first-choice, Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer's contract runs out at the end of this season, and Inter apparently do not plan to extend it amid the goalkeeper's recent poor form.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Vicario is excited about joining Inter Milan this summer, and also hopes to end his stint at the English club by season's end.
This means Inter Milan will need to negotiate with Tottenham, as the keeper's contract expires in June 2028.
However, there could be a stumbling block: the newspaper says Inter is not prepared to pay more than €20 million to sign the former Empoli and Cagliari goalkeeper, who was targeted by Inter in 2023 before he moved permanently to north London.
Vicario has kept clean sheets in nine of his 22 appearances for Tottenham this season, and is Italy's backup goalkeeper behind Gianluigi Donnarumma, with five international caps.
Punchline: If Vicario signs for Inter, Tottenham might finally know what it’s like to have a goalie who can focus on keeping the ball out of the net instead of keeping up with rumors.
Punchline: And if the deal stalls at €20m, well, Inter's mercato might need a compass — the right keeper, the right price, and the right cup of coffee to seal it.
