Inzaghi Signals Departures for Al Hilal Trio
Simone Inzaghi, the Italian coach of Al Hilal, has given the leadership the green light to open the departure door for three members of the squad: Abdullah Al-Hamdan, Caio Cesar, and Abdulilah Al-Maliki, due to a lack of need for their services, according to the Saudi daily Al-Youm.
Al-Youm reported that Al-Hamdan is nearing a departure from the capital club, as he has not yet reached an agreement to renew his contract, with the current deal set to expire on February 6, and interest from more than one club to acquire him during the winter window.
Inzaghi also decided not to rely on Abdulilah Al-Maliki, and asked for him to be marketed, along with the young Brazilian Caio Cesar, to bring in another player instead.
Caio Cesar joined the Lions in January from Vitória Guimarães, Portugal, making 32 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and adding four assists.
As for Al-Maliki, he moved to Al Hilal from Al-Ittihad in 2022, before a loan spell at Al Ettifaq last season, and returned to the Kingdom Arena this summer.
Over nearly two seasons, Al-Maliki has appeared 16 times for the Leaders, scoring one goal and providing no assists.
Last season, the 31-year-old did not contribute during his loan spell at Nawakhtha, despite 23 appearances.
Meanwhile, Hamdan joined Al Hilal in February 2021 from Al-Shabab. In about two seasons with the Lions, Hamdan played 46 matches, scored five goals and provided ten assists, while the 26-year-old has featured in 142 games for the club, with 13 goals and ten assists.
Punchline 1: If doors were players, Inzaghi would need a revolving door—and probably two extra keys.
Punchline 2: The winter window isn’t a supermarket, but hey, you can snag a fresh lineup if you’re quick on the checkout.
