Milan’s January Gambit: West Ham Striker under the Spotlight
17 December 2025
Overview
An Italian press report today said Milan has submitted an official bid to West Ham United to sign the London club's striker in January.
According to Sky Italia, Milan is aiming to sign German forward Niklas Vollkrog during the winter window, as the player desires to leave the English league.
Vollkrog moved to West Ham in the summer of 2024 from Borussia Dortmund, but he has suffered several injuries and has not established himself with the English club.
Deal status
The report states that Milan wants Vollkrog on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season, a deal West Ham is currently weighing.
The report adds that West Ham prefers a mandatory purchase clause rather than a mere option to buy if they agree to let the German striker go.
VfL Wolfsburg remains interested in Vollkrog and continues to monitor West Ham's position in case they move in January.
Punchline: If Milan pull it off, January will need a bigger calendar — and probably a bigger trophy cabinet.
Punchline 2: If not, at least the pasta in Milan will have more twists than this transfer saga.
