Morocco Dazzles Africa: Every Team Gets a 5-Star Base Camp at AFCON 2025
Morocco's new 5-star team camps promise smoother AFCON 2025 preparations.

Event backdrop

Across Africa, the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is nearing kickoff, with Morocco stepping into the spotlight as host.

Morocco will stage the CAN finals from December 21 to January 18, inviting 24 national teams to compete on the continent's biggest stage.

New format and promises

For the first time in AFCON history, a base camp model labeled TBC will be used, providing a 5-star hotel for each team, along with world-class training facilities.

Each squad will remain in a single location for the duration of the tournament to ensure comfort and stability.

Mohammed Ait, Morocco's ambassador to Cairo, said in a prior interview that the country has completed preparations to host the grand African festival.

He added, for the first time in CAN history, every team will stay in its own dedicated hotel, not sharing with others.

Moroccan reports say the aim of this arrangement is to reduce the disruptions that characterized past editions, when teams changed venues and moved from city to city in later rounds.

The organizers insist this approach will improve preparations and provide players with a better environment for their comfort.

Punchline 1: With every team in a five-star hotel, the only thing starry will be the ceiling in the players' rooms.

Punchline 2: If travel goes this smoothly, the ball might start requesting a frequent-flier program for its own trips.
