Mohamed Salah received the backing of a global constellation of national team captains and coaches, who voted him No. 1 for The Best award in 2025 according to FIFA’s ballot. The votes reflect his standout season with Liverpool, where he helped the club clinch the Premier League title and earned multiple individual honors.
Among those who placed Salah at the top were his Egyptian compatriot Hosam Hassan, the Egypt national team coach, as well as his Liverpool teammate and Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk.
In addition to them, the list included captains from Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Scotland, plus coaches from Ireland, Kenya, Libya, and other nations who weighed in on Salah’s case.
Arab world voters included United Arab Emirates captain Ali Khasief and Palestine coach Ihab Abu Jazar, who also backed Salah.
The vote highlights Salah’s performance last season with Liverpool, where he starred as the team clinched the Premier League and earned Best Player, top scorer, and best playmaker awards.
On the international level, Salah helped Egypt qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Meanwhile, French forward Ousmane Dembele was crowned The Best 2025 at a ceremony in Doha, adding the Ballon d’Or to his 2024 honors for leadership at Paris Saint-Germain.
The awards added to Salah’s global fan base, underscoring a season that cemented his status as one of the game’s most influential figures.
