Medical file takes center stage for Al-Ahli's star
Al-Ahli Saudi FC has identified Brazilian winger Wenderson Galeno as a priority in the club’s medical files, overseen by the new medical chief, Dr. Mubarak Al-Mutaw.
Return from injury and international run
According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah, Galeno’s medical file tops Mutaw’s list, with plans to assess his health precisely and prepare a comprehensive report for club management and the coaching staff, detailing the reasons behind his frequent injuries and how they affect his availability.
Galeno gradually returned to training after an early-season injury sidelined him for several matches, due to earlier misdiagnoses and divergent medical opinions within the previous medical team.
He resumed playing for Al-Ahli against Al-Qadsia in the Roshen Saudi Pro League, and later featured for Al-Sadd in Qatar, Al-Sharjah in the UAE, and Al-Shorta in Iraq in Asian competitions.
Galeno, who scored in the final of last edition's Asian championship when his team lifted the title for the first time, had joined Al-Ahli from Porto and appeared in 29 matches, with 9 goals and 7 assists.
On the injury front, Transfermarkt notes that Galeno missed more games for Al-Ahli than in his previous stints at Porto, Braga, and Rio Ave — 13 with Al-Ahli versus 8 at Porto, 11 at Braga, and one at Rio Ave.
Punchlines: If injuries were tickets, Galeno would own the stadium. And if the hospital had a loyalty program, he would have MVP status after 100 visits.
