Match Report
Paris Saint-Germain halted a run of mixed results in Ligue 1 by beating Nice 1-0 at Parc des Princes on Saturday in Round 11.
Portuguese forward Gonzalo Ramos scored the only goal in stoppage time, 90+5, meeting a cross at the far post after coming off the bench.
Ramos had already shown his late-game impact, having previously provided a late winner for PSG in a 2-1 Champions League victory at Montjuïc against Barcelona this season.
With this win, PSG register their seventh league win of the campaign and move to 24 points, maintaining top spot ahead of a crucial Bayern Munich clash at Parc des Princes in the Champions League.
Nice suffered their first defeat in a run of three wins, keeping them on 17 points in eighth, ahead of a European clash with Freiburg in the Europa League.
PSG dominated the first half but created few clear chances, with two efforts from Bradley Barcola saved by Nice’s goalkeeper. Nice set up with a compact 5-4-1 system to blunt PSG, leaving Hakimi, Mendes, Neves, Vitinha and Kvaratskhelia short on space to exploit the retreating visitors.
In the 32nd minute, a corner from Morgan Sanson caused confusion in PSG’s box, and Abdallah Bah headed toward the goal only to be cleared at the last moment by Kvaratskhelia.
The second half saw PSG pressing with greater purpose, as chances for Warren Zaire-Emery and Vitinha were saved by Nice’s goalkeeper, while Joao Neves fired narrowly wide from a good position.
Coach Luis Enrique reacted with a flurry of substitutions—Fabian Ruiz, Kang—In Lee, Ousmane Dembélé and Ramos entering in the 66th and 72nd minutes to refresh the attack.
The drama peaked in the final 10 minutes, with Ramos twice threatening and a late cross from Kang headed home by Ramos to seal the victory in stoppage time, finally lifting the curse of PSG’s results against Nice this season.
