Uncertain Call-Up for Trezeguet After Super Cup Injury
Egypt's Mahmoud Hassan "Trezeguet" remains in limbo over his possible selection for the national team camp after suffering a hamstring strain in the Egyptian Super Cup final, where Al Ahly defeated Zamalek 2-0 to lift the trophy for the 16th time and a fifth consecutive year.
The final was staged at the Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, and Trezeguet left the field with the injury. Medical tests confirmed a hamstring strain, prompting the national team's medical staff to inform the federation and the coaching staff in Egypt to decide his involvement in the upcoming UAE camp.
Fixture Schedule and Squad Updates
Egypt are scheduled to play a friendly against Uzbekistan on Friday in the UAE camp, followed by a match against Iran or Cabo Verde on 18 November in the camp's closing game.
Ahead of the camp, Ahmed Shennawi was given the No. 1 jersey during training, a choice that echoes past debates with the previous coach Rui Vitoria over shirt numbers. Also training alongside the group was Mohamed Salah, Omar Mormoosh, plus several other players returning from injury.

The minister stressed the importance of such camps and international friendlies for refining players and exposing them to professional-level experience.
He reaffirmed government and federation support for all squads, emphasizing a training environment aligned with global standards and ongoing readiness for international competition. The meeting also addressed Salah and Mormoosh's travel plans to join the squad in Morocco, with a decision on release dates expected in the coming days. The rules permit a team to call players up to 14 days before a major tournament, allowing Egypt to include Salah and Mormoosh should the coaches decide so.
Earlier, the current camp had Salah and Mormoosh training with the rest of the group after their recent matches; the two are expected to reach the camp soon and join a briefing with coach Hassan to finalize their schedules ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
