Interim Appointment and Staff
The board of Zamalek SC, in coordination with John Edward, the sporting director, decided to appoint Moataz Gamal as head coach on an interim basis.
Moataz Gamal previously coached Zamalek for about three months on an interim basis between November 2023 and February 2024.
His coaching staff includes Ibrahim Salah, a former Zamalek player, while the fitness coach, performance analyst, and foreign goalkeeping coach continue in their roles.
Training is set to begin with the new system today, Wednesday, at 2:30 PM, at the Military College Stadium, as the team prepares for upcoming matches.
Sources from Zamalek had previously told KOOORA that the White Knights were negotiating with the former Egypt Olympic team coach, Brazilian Rogerio Micale.
This season began under Belgian manager Yannick Ferreira, who was dismissed in November, with interim duties briefly handled by Egyptian Ahmed Abdel-Raouf who left at the end of the month.
What It Means Going Forward
This is the official move as the club plots its path ahead of crucial fixtures, keeping a familiar face in charge while talks continue with other candidates.
And if wins come, the club might rename the stadium after him—talk about turning up the home advantage.
And if not, at least the press can say the bench finally found a coach who really sits through the game.
