Zambia’s Coach Drops Truth Bombs: Morocco’s European-Style Organization Should Inspire Africa
28 December 2025
Morocco-Mali draw tightens Zambia's task.
Context
Zambia's head coach Moses Sichone noted the difficulty of facing hosts Morocco in the third round of Group A at AFCON 2025.
Key quotes
During the pre-match press conference, Sichone said: "Our game against Morocco won't be easy, but we will be ready. I believe Morocco's 1-1 draw with Mali has complicated things in our group, as Morocco will look to win to secure advancement." He added: "Whoever wants to qualify must win, not wait for another team's setback."
He added: "We know the strength of the Moroccan side, and it's essential to prepare well. We have faced them under different conditions before, and we will seek a positive result, and be physically and mentally ready."
Anticipation and infrastructure
"We are excited to be in Rabat, to take on this challenge against Morocco. We look forward to this match, which will be extremely difficult given Morocco's capabilities and fan support, but we are ready for this appointment."
The coach also praised the infrastructure Morocco has provided to host the tournament, saying: "It's like we are in Europe; African countries should follow Morocco's lead. Everything here is good, from training grounds to main stadiums, everything is truly wonderful."
Punchline 1: If organization paid rent, Morocco would own the stadium; Africa could borrow the fans.
Punchline 2: In football as in life, when you set up like Morocco, even a draw can feel like a win—until the referee reminds you it's still a game.
