Al Ahly Nears Signing Jordanian Talent Awda Al-Fakhouri
Al Ahly of Egypt is closing in on signing Awda Al-Fakhouri, a rising star of the Jordanian national team.
A well-placed source inside the club told Koora that the 20-year-old is close to donning the red shirt.
He has a clause in his Hussein Irbid contract allowing him to depart for a fee not exceeding 150,000 dollars.
The player reportedly agreed to move to the Egyptian giants, with the transfer now near completion.
Fakhouri operates on the right wing, and he joined Hussein Irbid in the summer of 2024 from Amman-based club Oman.
This season he has appeared 13 times, scoring six goals and providing one assist.
He has earned six caps for Jordan and impressed at the Arab Cup in Qatar late last year, helping the Reds to finish as runners-up.
Jordanian players have rarely worn the Al Ahly jersey, with limited previous stints at Egyptian clubs such as Khaled Saad at Zamalek and goalkeeper Amer Shafi at Ismaily.
Ghaith Al-Madadha is currently with Talae El Gaish.
Al Ahly have announced signings of Hamza Alaa, a goalkeeper; Marwan Osman, Amr El-Gazar, and Ahmed Eid in the ongoing winter window, and they have also secured Moroccan left-back Yousef Belamri.
If the Awda Al-Fakhouri deal is completed, he will be registered as under-23.
Humor note aside, this move would mark a notable bridge between Jordanian talent and Egypt’s football powerhouse.
Punchlines aside, if this deal lands, the transfer market in Cairo might need its own security detail because the heat is rising fast.
And if he makes it, the Reds will be counting on speed, skill, and a passport stamp in the locker room to prove the Jordanian connection is real.
