Al Hilal Signals Exit Gate for Nunez and Leonardo as Benzema Changes the Script
22 March 2026
The management of Al Hilal has opened the door to letting Darwin Nunez and Marcus Leonardo depart during the upcoming summer transfer window, amid a reduced role for both players.
The club's stance reflects a prioritization of fresh voices as Benzema's arrival reshapes the attacking dynamics.
Despite some variable form, Al Hilal remains in the running for the Saudi Pro League title, has advanced to the Asian Elite League knockout rounds, and reached the King Cup Final.
According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Yom, Al Hilal would consider loaning or selling Nunez if a suitable financial offer arrives in the coming window.
The newspaper also notes that the club will not rush any decision, studying every proposal to determine the best financial and sporting fit for Nunez.
It also says the club awaits a formal offer that reflects Leonardo's value, particularly in light of the market's interest.
Yet Al Hilal has not fixed its stance on selling, weighing whether to keep him as a core part of the project or to seize a prospective European bid.
Nunez has been removed from Al Hilal's domestic list, with most of his appearances this season limited to the Asian Elite League.
Leonardo's role has waned since Benzema joined from derby rival Al Ittihad Jeddah in the winter window.
