Contract renewal on the table as player battles injury
Swift move at a sensitive moment.
Al Nassr's management is preparing to take an important step regarding one of the team's players, given his current health condition.
This move comes at a delicate time, as the player faces a major challenge after suffering a serious injury that kept him from action, with his contract expiring this coming summer.
According to the Saudi sports daily Al-Riyadia, the club is ready to submit an official offer to renew the contract of goalkeeper Ragid Al-Najjar (29), before the current link ends this summer.
Najjar underwent ACL surgery two weeks ago, his second, at Aspetar Hospital in Qatar, and will need a treatment and rehabilitation program lasting about six months.
Najjar's first ACL injury dates back to 2016 with Al Ahli, before moving to Al Taawoun and then to Al Nassr in the summer of 2023.
Najjar is third in Al Nassr's goalkeeper hierarchy, behind Brazilian Bento (the starter) and Nawaf Al-Aqeedi (the backup), having suffered an ACL tear during training sessions.
His last league appearance for Al Nassr was on 20 September 2025 against Al-Riyadh, with the side winning 5-1.
Since joining Al Nassr from Al Taawoun, Ragid Al-Najjar has played 11 official matches, keeping a clean sheet in six of them, before his role gradually shifted to a substitute or out of the matchday list.
Punchline 1: If his comeback timeline were a target, it would still be loading on 4G.
Punchline 2: He’s aiming for a return so clean that even the goalposts would file for a loan extension.
