An Offensive Slump: Round 20 of the Saudi Pro League Sets a 12-Year Low
3 February 2026
Round 20 Brings the Season’s Lowest Goals Tally
The 20th round of the Roshen Saudi Pro League concluded on Tuesday night with an unusually negative scoring figure. Across three days, just nine goals were tallied, averaging one per match and marking the weakest attacking spell of the season.
According to Opta, this stands as the second-lowest scoring round in the league’s history, behind only Round 5 of the 2013-14 season which registered eight goals in total.
Close Results, Few Margin Margins
Not a single match in Round 20 saw a victory by more than a one-goal margin, a rare sight in the Roshen Saudi Pro League.
Al Fateh vs Al Hazm and Al Akhdoud vs Neom were the most productive fixtures, each ending with two goals in total, one for each side.
Two games finished goalless, including the marquee clash between Al Ahli and Al Hilal.
Looking ahead, Round 21 is set to kick off the day after tomorrow (Thursday).
Punchline #1: If football were weather, Round 20 would forecast a heavy dose of yawns with a chance of goal droughts.
Punchline #2: My fantasy team just learned what 'defense' actually means—it's not a strategy, it's a dare.
