Argentine Megadeal Eyes Ittihad's Sporting Director

The Saudi club is reportedly planning to part ways with one of its key figures as the season ends.
Cross-Continental Bid Emerges
A prominent Argentine club has tabled a massive offer for the Ittihad Jeddah target, as the Saudi side readies to sever ties with him at season’s end.
According to The Athletic, River Plate is plotting a sporting director change, with Ramón Blanis named among the frontrunners who could reshape the club’s strategy.
Blanis is not the only candidate, as Pablo Longoria, former Marseille president, is also in the running after leaving the French club this March.
Blanis has been in charge at Al-Ittihad since January 2024, helping build the squad that won last season’s Saudi Pro League and the Custodian of the Two Holy Cities Cup.
Earlier in his career, he served as Barcelona’s sporting director in 2020-2021, after overseeing the club’s football operations from 2018 to 2020.
If River Plate lures Blanis, it would mark a rare cross-continental leadership shift, and fans will wonder if the Argentine giants can outmuscle in this transfer window.
Punchline 1: If this transfer saga were a movie, the ending would be rewritten a dozen times before credits roll.
Punchline 2: At this pace, the only thing dropping faster than the ball will be the rumors.
