Arsenal On Top, Chelsea Braced for a Five-Goal Derby Showdown
30 November 2025
Five-Goal Threat
Arsenal arrives at the Chelsea derby on Sunday evening, buoyed by leading the Premier League table, a good omen before the big clash.
The Gunners travel to Stamford Bridge for the 13th round of the Premier League.
Arsenal sit top with 29 points, four clear of Manchester City, who have a game in hand, while Chelsea lie third on 23.
According to Opta, this is only the fifth time Arsenal meet Chelsea while leading the league, and the Gunners have won the previous four.
The previous Arsenal wins in those meetings were: 3-2 in January 2003 (home), 2-1 in February 2004 (away), 1-0 in December 2007 (home), and 5-0 in April 2024 (home).
Chelsea have a win in only one of their last 11 Premier League matches against Arsenal (three draws, seven losses).
They have failed to win in their last seven meetings with Arsenal (two draws, five losses) since the 2-0 win at the Emirates in August 2021.
Since 2013-14, Chelsea have lost six of seven visits to Stamford Bridge; yet Arsenal have been unbeaten in their last six visits there (three wins, three draws).
Chelsea have opened the scoring in seven consecutive Premier League games—the longest streak of its kind since April 2024, when they did the same in seven straight.
That run ended with a 0-5 defeat to Arsenal in the 2023-24 clash.
In that game, Arsenal's five goals came from Leandro Trossard, Bukayo Saka (two), and Kai Havertz (two).
This season Chelsea have collected only 10 points from 23 at home (43.5%), making them one of the weaker home sides.
They are the second-worst home team this season, with Tottenham's 28% the only lower mark.
Punchline 1: If Chelsea keep gifting goals at home, maybe they should rent out the net to Arsenal for a while. Punchline 2: Arsenal’s lead is so solid that even their coffee is plotting compliments to the title race.
