Final thriller in Lusail
The Moroccan national team has officially clinched the 2025 Arab Cup title after a dramatic final, defeating Jordan 3-2 at Lusail Stadium in Doha on Thursday night.
The ceremony featured FIFA President Gianni Infantino in attendance as the Atlas Lions celebrated a hard-earned trophy.
Road to glory in Doha
Morocco took the lead early when Osama Tanan struck from outside the box in the fourth minute, a world-class strike that set the tone for a night of drama.
Jordan answered with an equaliser from Ali Alwan in the 48th minute and then went ahead from a penalty in the 64th.
An 87th-minute substitute, Abdul Razak Hamdallah, equalised, before sealing the win with the decisive strike in the 100th minute after extra time.
Tarik Sektoui’s Morocco clinched the title for the second time, the first since 2012.
Morocco had topped Group B with seven points, beating Comoros 3-1, Saudi Arabia 1-0, and Oman, then defeated Syria 1-0 in the quarterfinals and the UAE 3-0 in the semifinals.
Punchline finale: if this trophy had a passport, it would need a visa. And congrats to the Atlas Lions, who proved that even extra time can’t turn off their roar.
