Barcelona's Month-Long Setback: Olmo Out After Shoulder Diagnosis
3 December 2025
Injury reveal and expected absence
Barcelona has revealed the diagnosis of Dani Olmo's injury, sidelining him for a full month, a fresh blow to the Catalan club in a season already full of challenges.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, Olmo underwent medical tests on Wednesday morning that revealed a left shoulder dislocation.
The medical staff, in an official Barcelona statement, decided on conservative treatment for Olmo, and he is expected to be out for about a month.
Impact on December fixtures
Thus, Olmo will miss the remaining December matches, including Betis, Eintracht Frankfurt, Osasuna, Villarreal, and the Copa del Rey clash.
Olmo suffered the injury during the clash with Atletico Madrid, when he fell awkwardly while scoring, and could not celebrate as Barça won 3-1.
Despite a faint smile at seeing the ball in the net, he couldn't get up, and teammates quickly called for medical staff.
Olmo left the pitch with a towel under his left arm to stabilize the shoulder, showing clear and worrying signs of pain.
The injury comes at a sensitive moment, as Olmo had been delivering standout performances, starting in the last two matches against Alavés and Atletico Madrid and scoring three goals.
This is Olmo's second absence of the season, after missing three games in October, two in La Liga and one in the Champions League, due to a previous injury.
Thus Olmo joins Barcelona's injury list, which currently includes Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Gavi and Fermín López; Araújo will miss upcoming games after asking the club on Monday for time to recover mentally following a red card against Chelsea in the Champions League.
Punchline 1: Looks like Olmo’s shoulder booked a one-month vacation—calendar control is a talent in football, too.
Punchline 2: Barça’s December plan: rotate the bench, and the sofa, because someone’s got to test the cushions while Olmo naps through recovery.
