Bono Comes Home: Al Hilal's Moroccan Shield Returns for a Saudi Showdown
21 January 2026
Al Hilal welcomed Bono back.
Match Update
Al Hilal celebrated the return of Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bono after finishing his duties with Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
He had missed the club's league return since December, following the Arab Cup 2025, due to his involvement with Morocco in Africa Cup, where they finished runner-up to Senegal.
The club posted a photo on X showing the keeper's return to Riyadh ahead of upcoming matches.
The club captioned the image, saying: "Login from one of Africa's best, welcome Bono".
The Lions note Bono's Africa Cup 2025 Best Goalkeeper award, ahead of Senegal's Édouard Mendy, who claimed the tournament with his country.
It's not clear whether Bono will start when Hilal hosts Al-Fayha in the seventeenth round of the Saudi Pro League, at the Kingdom Arena, on Thursday.
The coach, Italian Simone Inzaghi, has relied on Mohammed Al-Rubay'i during Bono's absence, while Frenchman Matteo Batoulet was out of his plans.
Punchline: Bono saves are so clean, the net files a complaint.
Punchline: And if the league had a truth detector, Bono would audit the shooters.
