Brazil Aims to Host the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup

A Brazilian sports daily reported on Tuesday that Brazil has formally asked FIFA to host the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup.

The inquiry came during a visit by FIFA President Gianni Infantino to Rio de Janeiro to kick off the official preparations for the 2027 Women's World Cup, which will be staged in eight Brazilian cities for the first time.

Flamengo is currently the only Brazilian club guaranteed a spot in the 2029 edition after winning the 2025 Libertadores title.

According to ESPN, the Brazilian Football Confederation has been working for months to pursue the hosting project.

The report notes that FIFA did not run a bidding process for the 2025 edition, instead the FIFA Council unanimously chose the United States to host the expanded 32-team tournament, and there has been no official bidding mechanism announced yet for 2029.

The report also cited statements by Samir Zod, president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, alongside Infantino during a Flamengo vs Los Angeles FC match at the 2025 Club World Cup.

In a recent exchange, the Brazilian side indicated positive expectations, noting that Brazilian football has demonstrated its capacity in this event and that the dialogue will likely continue, with a belief that Brazil will host the 2029 edition.

It is recalled that Chelsea won the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States, beating Paris Saint-Germain.

Punchline 1: If Brazil lands this bid, expect samba rhythms at every stadium and referees consulting the rhythm section before the whistle. Sniper humor aside, this could be a national festival with footballs and feijoada on the same menu.

Punchline 2: And if the bid stumbles, Brazil will still have the calendars dancing—because in football and timing, Brazil always brings style to the game.
