Coach Declines Renewal: Al-Ittihad Braces for a New Chapter After Awad Al-Nashri
15 December 2025
Contract Stance from Conceicao
Sergio Conceicao, head coach of Al-Ittihad, has decided the future of his player Awad Al-Nashri, whose contract with the club ends at the end of the current season.
According to the daily Al-Yaoum, Conceicao informed the club’s management that he would not renew Al-Nashri’s deal, effectively allowing him to leave in the near future.
The Portuguese coach’s decision to not extend comes amid limited playing time for the 23-year-old, who faces stiff competition for his position.
During this season, Al-Nashri has appeared in six matches across competitions, totaling 209 minutes, with no goals to his name.
Recently, Al-Ittihad announced the renewal of Abdulrahman Al-Aboud’s contract, keeping him at the team until the summer of 2027.
The squad is gearing up to face Nasaf in the AFC Champions League Elite on December 23.
Additionally, a friendly in Jeddah is expected in the coming days after the postponement of the Saudi League’s round 10 due to the national team’s Arab Cup semifinal qualification.
Outlook and Light-Hearted Note
With Awad’s future unclear, the defense remains vigilant, even if his minutes have been as scarce as a goal in a goalie’s club meeting.
Punchline 1: In football, some contracts age like milk—best before the season ends.
Punchline 2: Don’t worry, Awad—you now have a brand-new CV line: “nightly appearance on the bench, a crowd favorite in the stands.”
