Col Palmer at Chelsea: Rosinior Breaks Silence on Manchester United Links
27 January 2026
Update
Chelsea head coach Liam Rosinior addressed the ongoing chatter surrounding Col Palmer's possible move to Manchester United, amid the latest transfer rumors.
Palmer, who moved from Manchester City to Chelsea in 2023, quickly became one of the Blues' key players.
According to The Sun yesterday, the 23-year-old Englishman is unsettled in London, feeling nostalgic for his hometown, and would welcome a chance to return to his boyhood club Manchester United.
In Focus
Palmer is regarded as one of Chelsea's untouchables, having signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge last year that runs through June 2033.
Rosinior responded to the rumors today at the press conference ahead of Napoli's match tomorrow in the final group stage of the Champions League, saying: baseless rumors.
When asked if Palmer is 'untouchable' and 'happy' at Chelsea, he reportedly replied per the Daily Mirror: Yes.
He added: The thing is simple. Cole is an incredible player, just like his teammate Moises Caicedo and many others in the squad.
He continued: I'm not surprised by the timing of the speculation; a new coach arrives and suddenly people feel unsettled. That's not true.
Despite the chatter surrounding Palmer, Rosinior did not feel the need to discuss the club's stance with Chelsea's management.
He further said: There's no need for any reassurance. This is far from realistic; the talk appeared suddenly and without warning. No need to dwell on it. Col is happy here.
He concluded: You can't stop rumors, but some are far from the truth and not worth discussing.
Punchline 1: If rumors were goals, Palmer would be top scorer in the rumor Premier League—though he still nets on the pitch.
Punchline 2: And if you believe every transfer whisper, you must be a goalkeeper—always waiting for the ball to come from nowhere.
