Inside Ronaldo's Demands: A Spotlight on a High-Stakes Meeting
Cristiano Ronaldo laid down firm terms during a pivotal discussion with the Saudi Public Investment Fund, outlining his expectations and the boundaries he wants for his role at Al Nassr.
Ronaldo did not feature in Al Nassr's last two league games against Riyadh and Al Ittihad in rounds 20 and 21 of the Roshen Pro League.
He argued that the club should back high-profile signings in the winter window, pointing to rivals under the Fund’s umbrella who acted faster—most notably Al Hilal's recent signing of Karim Benzema from Al Ittihad.
What Ronaldo Wants Next
In a TV interview with Al Arabiya, Saud Al-Sarami relayed that Ronaldo told the fund representatives the issue had been resolved and that the player rejoined the squad's training rhythm.
Ronaldo reportedly compared the numbers and names across the leagues, explaining that in the summer he helped bring Joao Felix on loan from Chelsea, along with a three-year deal for a player named Koman and Inigo Martinez on a free transfer, while others made different moves.
He reportedly added that winter deals were not as strong; the team signed a domestic player by simply covering his wages and another Iraqi international for a modest fee.
The fund's representatives are said to have been persuaded by his figures and asked for his exact requests. Ronaldo reportedly replied that he has a staff but their powers were reduced despite agreements with two players, and that the winter deals failed because of those restrictions.
The session concluded with a pledge to restore full powers to Samido and Simao and to remove individuals who blocked their work at the club.
Humor break: If football management were a sniper’s nest, Ronaldo just asked for a longer sightline and fewer ricochets—because accuracy beats drama any day. And yes, even silenced snipers can’t miss when the goalkeeper is wearing a suit.
