Enrique Sparks Hope: Hakimi Eyes Return as AFCON Looms for Morocco
5 December 2025
Hakimi's Injury Update
Luis Enrique, the Paris Saint-Germain coach, delivered uplifting news about Moroccan star Ashraf Hakimi, the team's right-back today.
Hakimi has been out since suffering a heavy left ankle injury after a tough tackle by Louis Diaz, Bayern Munich's star, on November 4 in the Champions League today.
The Moroccan star has undergone rehab, shuttling between Spain, France, and Morocco.
Hakimi attended the African Footballer of the Year ceremony in Rabat last month, collecting the African Player of the Year award while leaning on crutches, proudly there.
Hakimi recently appeared at PSG's training base, performing fitness drills without the medical boot yet today.
In a press conference, Enrique said it is always good for a player to recover from injury, and he has nothing more on Hakimi; he is recovering now.
The coach added that Africa Cup of Nations would come next, so Hakimi will return to action with his team.
AFCON will take place in Morocco from December 21 to January 18, 2026, bringing tournament back home.
Atlas Lions face group-stage opponents like Comoros, then Mali and Zambia, as they begin their campaign with the opener against Comoros on December 21 there.
Punchline 1: If comebacks healed as fast as headlines, Hakimi would be back before your coffee.
Punchline 2: If football were math, Hakimi's injury would cancel itself out—now that’s a true case of auto-solve.
