Deadline Day Deal: Ittihad Land Portuguese Playmaker
Al-Ittihad Jeddah sealed a fresh deal from the Portuguese league just hours before the winter transfer window closes in the Roshen Saudi League.
Earlier reports had linked the club with a move for Moroccan striker Youssef Nesri from Fenerbahce, but attention soon shifted to Gustavo Sá, a 21-year-old playmaker from Famalicao.
According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadhiah, the club has reached a final agreement with Gustavo Sá to join the squad in the near future.
Gustavo Sá is a Portuguese creator who plays as an attacking midfielder and has featured 22 times for Famalicao this season in league and cup competitions, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
Though only 21, Sá has been with the first team since his promotion in the summer of 2022.
Since then, Sá has appeared in 108 matches across competitions, scoring 12 goals and delivering 15 assists.
Player profile
Sa, a 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder, is known for his creativity and vision in the final third. His development through Famalicao’s ranks and his recent productivity have made him an attractive option for a club chasing domestic success.
He is expected to strengthen the squad's creativity as the campaign continues, while fans joke that the only deadline he fears is the one on his bank loan statement.
Punchline 1: If he scores on his first appearance, will they rename the trophy after him or just put his name on a bigger jersey?
Punchline 2: In this market, even the calendar is tense—deadline day just learned to spell 'transfer' in six languages.
