John Duran’s 13-Month Transfer Tour: Four Clubs, Four Leagues, One Sidelight-Quick Jump

John Duran's record-breaking loan tour
The Colombian forward John Duran has set a record for the number of teams he has represented in a remarkably short period—roughly a year and a handful of months.
Al Nassr decided to part ways with Duran after his loan spell with Fenerbahçe reached a dead end, closing a chapter that began last summer.
Fenerbahçe had announced the signing from Al Nassr for a season-long loan, before the Turkish club later opted to terminate the deal.
Duran arrived at Al Nassr in January 2025 from Aston Villa, then moved on loan to Turkey, and subsequently to Zenit Saint Petersburg on loan through the end of the season.
Zenit confirmed the deal on X, with Duran expected to spearhead the attack wearing number 9 in the coming months.
By this transfer, Duran has traversed four clubs in four leagues within 13 months: Aston Villa, Al Nassr, Fenerbahçe, and Zenit.
Duran’s start at Al Nassr was fruitful—four goals in his first two Saudi league matches and 12 in 18 games across all competitions.
Punchline: If transfers were flights, his itinerary would need a frequent-traveler program—with extra legroom for trophies he hasn’t earned yet.
Punchline 2: He collects clubs like punch cards—buy 10, get the 11th one free, apparently.
