Kahraba Seeks a Homecoming: Al Ahly’s Door Open or Closed?

Back to Al Ahly on the Table?
Former Kuwait-based midfielder Kahraba has publicly expressed his wish to return to the Egyptian giants Al Ahly, insisting the club needs him both on the pitch and in the locker room. He also revealed that several offers have come his way during the ongoing winter window, spanning Egyptian, Iraqi, and UAE leagues.
He had previously announced the termination of his contract with Al Qadisiyah in Kuwait, citing outstanding payments as the main reason behind the move.
Options on the Table
Speaking to a sports channel, Kahraba said: “I have multiple offers from the Egyptian and Iraqi leagues, plus one from the UAE, and I am reviewing them with my agent Ahmed Yahya. I hope to return home, to Al Ahly.”
He added: “If doors close with Al Ahly, I could play for another Egyptian club. Returning to Zamalek is unlikely, though I respect the club and its fans.”
What Al Ahly Really Think
He noted there have been no formal talks with Al Ahly’s administration yet, but if the club does express interest, he won’t hesitate to make a quick decision. He believes Al Ahly needs him in several technical and off-field aspects, and he sees a future where his level improves beyond his past performances.
“I’m seeking a comeback and consistency, focused on my future and returning stronger,” he stated. Kahraba emphasized that crowd-supported clubs are his primary target for a comeback, acknowledging that his recent stint wasn’t ideal but remaining confident of delivering notable displays upon his return.
Ashour in the Spotlight
Regarding his teammate Imam Ashour, Kahraba said the midfielder has accepted the punishment and continues with individual training, hoping to return at a higher level for the fans. He stressed that blaming one another won’t help anyone, as everyone makes mistakes and needs support to move forward.
He added that Imam Ashour did commit an error and that Al Ahly issued an official statement sanctioning him, but the youngster is expected to regain his form and showcase strong performances with the team soon.
In sum, the path to a potential reunion hinges on formal talks, market options, and a shared belief that both players can contribute to Al Ahly’s ambitions—a classic case of football’s delicate balance between loyalty, economics, and timing.
And yes, in football as in life, timing is everything: even a sniper would tell you that the best shot is the one you take when the window is open. If not, there’s always next season—or at least a better contract offer from the snacks vendor outside the stadium.
