Match Report
Al-Masry earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over visiting Haras Hodoud on Thursday evening at the new Suez Stadium, in the third round of Group Three in the Capital Cup.
Karim Bambo scored the winner in the 88th minute as the match delivered drama until the final whistle.
The encounter also saw a heavy facial injury to Haras Hodoud defender Moataz Mohamed, who left the field after 12 minutes as Masry controlled possession but failed to convert more chances.
Coach Nabil El Koiki brought on attackers to refresh Masry's frontline, including Omar Al-Saei, Mido Jaber, Karim Bambo and Ahmed Amer.
Bambo's late strike gave Masry three valuable points and put them top of Group Three with seven points, ahead of the clash between Zamalek and Smouha later on Thursday.
Zamalek remained in second place ahead of Smouha with four points, while the subsequent opponent sat sixth with a single point.
Haras Hodoud stay seventh and last with no points after a second consecutive defeat, after losing to Zamalek.
