Mbappé reveals how heritage could have steered his national team
In candid and controversial remarks, French star Kylian Mbappé admits that his African roots might have steered his international path differently.
Speaking on the The Bridge podcast, he said he would have chosen Cameroon, while his brother Ethan would have preferred Algeria.
He explained that the decision would have come from a closer bond to Cameroonian culture through his father, compared with the Algerian culture linked to his mother.
Mbappé added that in recent times he has grown closer to his Algerian relatives, and that he has learned more about Arab culture.
He expressed a strong desire to visit Algeria for the first time, denying claims that he does not care about his Algerian roots.
