21 November 2025
Opening Night at Miami Freedom Park
Inter Miami will inaugurate its new home, Miami Freedom Park, on April 4 with a marquee matchup against Austin FC.
The regular season kicks off February 21, with each club playing 34 matches; the schedule runs through November 7.
World Cup break: The league will pause from May 25 to June 16 as the World Cup is hosted in the United States, Mexico and Canada, with MLS resuming ahead of the 2026 final on June 19.
Messi, MLS Spotlight, and the Barca Question
In the opening round on February 21, 13 matches are scheduled, including Inter Miami under Messi hosting Los Angeles FC led by Son Heung-min.
Joan Laporta has cooled talk of a Messi return to Camp Nou, stating that a comeback as a Barça player is not on the cards while Messi remains under contract with Inter Miami and the club continues to build for the present and future.
A golden journey
Messi's Barcelona tenure stands as one of football's greatest chapters. From his 2004 debut to his 2021 departure, he delivered a string of astonishing numbers and unforgettable moments that define the club's modern legend.
In 778 appearances for Barcelona, Messi scored 672 goals and provided 303 assists, becoming the most prolific contributor for a single club in football history. He blended scoring and playmaking in a way that reshaped how teams attack.
His era helped Barça lift four Champions Leagues and ten La Liga titles, along with numerous cups, establishing a benchmark for what a club can achieve with one extraordinary player and a brilliant supporting cast.
Even as coaches and generations changed, Messi remained the constant, a creative force trusted in crunch moments and a symbol of the club’s enduring magic.
The departure left a void, not only in the squad but in the hearts of fans who lived through those moments, though his Barça legacy goes far beyond numbers.
The life after Barça
Leaving Barcelona in 2021 due to financial constraints, Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Inter Miami in 2023. In Paris, he faced the challenges of joining a multi-star squad; in Miami, he found a calmer environment and the chance to reconnect with fans while reshaping the MLS narrative.
With Inter Miami, he helped spark renewed interest in American soccer, and his presence has contributed to the club’s first major trophy and elevated the league’s profile globally.
Messi’s journey demonstrates that greatness travels with the player, not the boundaries, and that his influence continues to shape the sport across continents.
Punchlines
In Miami, even the streetlights blink GOOOAL when Messi is near. If football is a script, Messi just rewrote the box-office numbers. And yes, the seats aren’t just full, they’re Messi-ated.
