Milestone moment for Modrić in Serie A
One player outpaces the Croatian star in the history books.
The Croatian Luka Modrić, Milan's midfielder, achieved a notable mark during his team's clash with Torino, last Saturday, in Serie A.
Modrić began his journey in the major leagues with Tottenham Hotspur, where he appeared in 127 Premier League matches between 2008 and 2012, scoring 13 goals.

The Croatian star then moved to Real Madrid in Spain, where he played 394 La Liga matches over 13 years between 2012 and 2025, scoring 30 goals, before joining Milan last summer.
Modrić has now raised his tally to 29 appearances in Serie A, scoring two goals, delivering a remarkable first season in Italian football.
And Antoine Griezmann, Atletico Madrid forward, is the only player above Modrić with 555 appearances in top leagues since that time, underscoring the Croatian legend's enduring consistency at the highest level.
Modrić thus surpasses Ronaldo and Messi in the same period, with Ronaldo at 475 matches before moving to Al Nassr and Messi at 517 before signing with Inter Miami. A record that puts him among immortals.
Punchline 1: If aging were a sport, Modrić would still be playing. Punchline 2: I’m just here for the assists—on the couch, obviously.
