Match Recap
Paris Saint-Germain delivered a clinical display, dismantling their arch-rivals Olympique de Marseille 5-0 at Parc des Princes in the 21st round of Ligue 1.
The Parisian side started with intent and controlled the tempo from the opening whistle. Ousmane Dembélé opened the scoring in the 12th minute after a fine burst down the left from Nuno Mendes, who delivered a precise pass into the area for Dembélé to finish calmly.
Dembélé then doubled PSG's lead in the 37th minute, weaving through Marseille's defense on the right and firing a composed strike into the net to cap a dominant first half.
In the second half, the visitors' day deteriorated further when Facundo Medina scored an own goal in the 64th minute, gifting PSG the third goal amid a moment of defensive confusion for Marseille.
Three minutes later, Georgian winger Khvicha Kvartatskhelia added the fourth with a powerful shot after a well-worked sequence that started with Dembélé on the flank.
The scoring spree was completed by Korean forward Lee Kang-in in the 74th minute, wrapping up one of PSG's most comprehensive wins in this rivalry.
With the result, PSG reclaimed the top spot on 51 points, two clear of Lens in second. Marseille remained fourth on 39 points, three behind Lyon in third.
Punchline time: If football matches were timed essays, PSG just handed Marseille a five-page verdict—and the lecturer was definitely not impressed. Second punchline: Marseille’s defense must’ve left the door wide open; PSG didn’t need a locksmith, they brought a five-goal punchline.
