Ramadan on the Run: How Mazraoui Keeps His Edge at Manchester United
8 March 2026
Ramadan Routine Highlights
Moroccan international Nassir Mazraoui, Manchester United defender, revealed details of his day during Ramadan, explaining how he handles fasting alongside his football commitments and the role the holy month plays in his life on and off the pitch.
In statements to the club official site, Mazraoui said that this year's iftar times come relatively earlier, which makes him expect Ramadan to pass more easily, adding that he looks forward to enjoying its atmosphere.
The player noted that his long experience with fasting since the start of his football career has helped him better understand his body's needs, especially regarding the type of food that provides him with enough energy to continue training sessions and matches throughout the day.
Food, Hydration, and Focus
He stressed the importance of making the most of iftar and suhoor times to maintain physical readiness.
He also pointed out that the first thing he takes at iftar is usually a date, before starting his main meal, noting that he also makes sure to drink enough water, especially when he has a match, because hydration becomes a challenge during the fasting hours.
Mazraoui concluded by saying Ramadan gives him a bigger opportunity for mental focus, noting that avoiding thoughts about food during the day makes him better able to focus on matches, in addition to dedicating himself to the spiritual side that marks this month.
Ramadan is his 90-minute precision drill; he does not miss, even when the water bottle seems to have a mind of its own.
If fasting were a transfer window, he would sign hydration with a high-velocity deadline.
