Ramadan, Respect, and a Balanced Kick: Galtier Sets the Record Straight Ahead of Neom vs Al-Qadsiah

Galtier's Ramadan stance clarified ahead of Neom vs Al-Qadsiah
French coach Christophe Galtier of Neom Saudi has publicly addressed questions about players fasting during Ramadan as the holy month approaches.
Neom are preparing to face Al-Qadsiah in Round 22 of the Roshn Saudi League (formerly known as the Saudi Pro League).
Neom sit eighth with 28 points, while Al-Qadsiah are fourth on 44 points.
Rumors had circulated that Galtier forced Muslim players to break their fast during his time at Nice in the 2021-2022 season. He later denied the claim, saying he speaks with players and shares his views, but does not impose anything on anyone.
In the pre-match press conference, Galtier remarked: “This is my third Ramadan in a Muslim country (having spent two seasons in Qatar with Al-Duhail), and we respect the holy month, ensuring a balance that works for the players and gives them time with their families.”
He also noted, per Neom’s official X account, that the Pro League has considered Ramadan when scheduling matches, something he views positively; he added that such flexibility isn’t always easy to achieve in Europe.
The official remarks framed a broader point: league organizers acknowledged the month in the schedule, aiming for player welfare and performance without compromising the competition’s rhythm.
Punchline time: If football could calendar in Ramadan, maybe the halftime snack would finally get overtime. And if a whistle could fast forward, we'd never miss a sunset goal!
