Ronaldo’s Absences and the Club Shake-Up
The Portuguese star Ronaldo continues to spark controversy.
Sports reports on Monday evening revealed a major surprise around Al Nassr, tied to internal administrative changes prompted by the ongoing crisis with Cristiano Ronaldo, who has continued to miss recent matches.
Ronaldo did not participate in the matches against Al Nassr's rivals Riyadh and Al Ittihad in rounds 20 and 21 of the Saudi Roshen Pro League, protesting how the Investment Fund supports clubs, particularly in managing new deals.
The absence did not end there; he also skipped the match against Arkadag Turkmenistan's Arkadag in the home leg of the AFC Champions League 2 Round of 16, with a return expected in Round 22 of the league against Al Fateh.
What Might Change Next
According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya, Ronaldo received assurances from the club's management to address all administrative and technical errors seen by the team, aiming to restore stability and set a suitable atmosphere to continue competing for titles.
The paper noted that management pledged to settle all overdue payments and restore powers to CEO Jose Semido and Sporting Director Simao Coutinho, in a move meant to calm the situation and rebuild trust between the player and the administration.
Sources also revealed the potential for further administrative changes that could include removing club president Abdullah Al Majed after his recent public remarks that angered Ronaldo.
Notably, press reports linked Ronaldo with leaving Al Nassr at the end of the current season, through unilateral termination of his contract.
