Portuguese midfielder Robin Neves detonates anger after the draw.
The Portuguese midfielder Robin Neves of Al Hilal directed criticism at the referee after the match against Al Taawoun, insisting his side can still win the title from Nassr.
Al Hilal were undone by a 2-2 draw with Al Taawoun, sharing the spoils on Saturday at the Kingdom Arena, in round 27 of the Roshen Pro League.
Neves, Saudi journalist Hamad Al-Sa'ili said: 'After the match I spoke to the referee about a mistake he didn't call for Théo Hernandez before Al Taawoun's goal'.
Regarding the equalizer, the Portuguese star added: 'We must improve; we cannot draw on our home ground while fighting to win the title—it's our fault'.
Added: 'There are still matches remaining in the league and the AFC Champions League; the league isn't over yet, and we will focus on the next game'.
He concluded: 'The league isn't over yet; perhaps some think it's over because I’ve seen odd things since January, but we will fight to the end'.
Note that the draw left Al Hilal second with 65 points, five behind leaders Al Nassr, and ahead on goal difference of Al Ahli in third.
Punchline 1: If referees had a hall of fame for questionable calls, this guy would be the president of confusion.
Punchline 2: The title race just got a plot twist—my coffee is still awake, but the defense isn’t.
