Match Night: Ronaldo Stars as Al-Nassr Dominate Al-Zawraa
Jalal Hassan, the Iraqi Zawraa goalkeeper, said he was delighted to face the galaxy of stars that the Saudi side Al-Nassr houses, led by the Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Al-Nassr routed their visitors 5-1 on Wednesday evening at Al-Nassr Park in Riyadh, in the sixth round of Group Stage action of the AFC Champions League 2 for the 2025-2026 season.
Hassan told the Saudi daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that he offered congratulations to Al-Nassr and wished Al-Zawraa better luck, noting that this page would be closed and the focus would shift to the next match.
He added that despite the heavy defeat, they were not that bad and would work to forget the setback.
He stressed that he was proud to play against Ronaldo and the stars of Al-Nassr; most Al-Zawraa players are Real Madrid fans, and Ronaldo is their favorite, regarded as the best player in the world.
He concluded that, being in Iraq, players and fans alike follow the Saudi league and its stars, and they were happy with this encounter.
This game marked Ronaldo's first appearance in AFC Champions League 2 this season.
