Ronaldo’s Referee Roulette: Al-Nassr vs Al-Najma Gets Heated and Hilarious
3 April 2026
Referees for today’s Saudi Pro League clash have been announced
Saudi Roshan League referees for today’s games have just been announced.
The highlight of the day pits Al-Nassr, leaders, against Al-Najma, at Al-Nasr Park.
The league assigned referee Abdullah Al-Shahri, with assistants Saad Al-Shabarmi and Hassan Al-Salam, fourth official Abdullah Al-Awidan, video assistant Raed Al-Zahrani, assisted by Mufreh Al-Hassan.
Al-Shahri has produced notable moments with Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Al-Nassr, before facing him again in the Al-Najma game, where he provoked Ronaldo’s anger on two occasions this season.
Ronaldo and the Ref Have a History: What to Expect
The opening event took place on Saturday, October 18, when Al-Nassr hosted Al-Fateh at Al-Nasr Park, in Roshen Round 5, a match ending 5-1 for The World.
Ronaldo voiced strong protests at the end of that match, after the whistle blew for an offside on Al-Fateh while the ball was heading toward the Portuguese star on a counter-attack.
About twenty days later, on Saturday, November 8, Al-Shahri oversaw a new Al-Nassr win, 3-1 over Neom at King Khalid Sports City in Tabuk, in Roshan Round 8.
The match featured Ronaldo’s sharp objections to the referee at half-time, as he approached to challenge a decision, before the Portuguese forward joked, Nice work, nice work, you’re doing a great job.
Ronaldo will again meet Al-Shahri today, in the first match since his return from injury kept him out for a month, dating back to the 3-1 win over Al-Fayha in Roshan Round 24.
If the drama keeps up, fans will need popcorn and an extra referee for the laughs. Meanwhile, Ronaldo signs autographs and checks the stopwatch.
Punchline 1: If refereeing were stand-up, today’s show would be sold out.
Punchline 2: Ronaldo might need a bigger trophy case—the one for all the whistles.
