No FIFA Virus, Just Injuries: Al-Nassr's Stars Hobble into the Al-Najma Clash
1 April 2026
Pre-match setback for Al-Nassr
Injuries strike Al-Nassr's stars just hours before their Saudi Pro League clash with Al-Najma. Al-Nassr will host Al-Najma on Friday at Al-Nasr Park, in Week 27 of the competition.
Update on the star duo
Two days before the match, Saudi journalist Ali Al-Anzi stated on X that French forwards Mohamed Simakan and Kingsley Coman did not participate in the team's training.
The reporter added the pair were in the club's medical clinic today, dealing with lingering pains ahead of the showdown.
Injury details and next steps
Al-Riyadhia confirmed Simakan is dealing with a front thigh muscle issue, while Coman is troubled by back muscle and calf pains suffered on Tuesday. The duo will undergo radiographic tests today to determine the injury type and expected absence.
This comes despite them not being called up by France during the FIFA Virus international window in March.
Season context and impact
Simakan and Coman have been among Al-Nassr's standout players this season, helping the side lead the Saudi Pro League with 67 points, three ahead of second-placed Al-Hilal. Coman has appeared in 32 matches, scoring 10 goals with 11 assists; Simakan has played 28 games, with four goals.
