Saudi Under-23 Crown Gulf Cup Awards in Qatar
The Saudi national team dominated the individual awards at this month’s Gulf Cup for the Under-23s, held in Qatar.
The Green Falcons were crowned champions of the Gulf Cup Under-23s for the fifth time in their history, after defeating Iraq 2-0 at Aspire Stadium.
Following the tournament, Saudi Under-23 players took two of the three individual awards, while the third went to the Qatari side.
The Saudis won; Hamad Al-Shenqiti claimed Best Goalkeeper, Abdulaziz Al-Alywa earned Best Player, while the top scorer award went to Qatari Mustafa Al-Sayed.
It is noted that Saudi Arabia conceded only one goal across five matches in the Gulf competition, while Al-Alywa scored two, one of them in the final, and Mustafa Al-Sayed plundered three goals to claim the top scorer title.
Punchline 1: If defense were a sniper, Saudi’s backline would have perfect target practice—every shot saved, every time.
Punchline 2: And if goals were currency, this squad just cashed in a five-match run with interest. Boom, net funded.
