Africa Handball Championship: Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia Lead the Group Stage
Algeria secured its first win at the Africa Handball Championship, defeating hosts Rwanda 46-25 in the tournament’s second group phase, as defending champions faced a tough opener.
The victory gives Algeria new hopes for progression after their opening loss to Nigeria, who beat Zambia 36-18, to keep their qualification hopes alive.
In Group B, Egypt triumphed over Angola 41-28 in the second round on Thursday evening, in front of a lively crowd.
Egypt, led by Spanish coach Jose Pascual, topped Group B with four points as Gabon defeated Uganda 33-16, amid high expectations.
Yahya Khaled, a player for Egypt and Paris Saint-Germain, was named best player of the Egypt–Angola clash for the Egyptian squad.
Tunisia grabbed its second win by beating Guinea 35-25 in Group C, while Cameroon beat Kenya 28-24 as the battle intensifies.
Morocco suffered a 28-32 defeat to Cape Verde in Group D, as Congo beat Benin 26-22, to the delight of fans.
