S according to the text, Several Italian outlets confirmed that Milan ended the contract with Belgian Divock Origi, the team's forward, after months of negotiations to terminate the agreement.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan, after nearing the announcement of signing Niklas Vollkrug from West Ham United, succeeded in reaching a settlement and signing the documents necessary to terminate Origi's contract by mutual consent today.
The contract was intended to run until June 2026, but the player had been effectively sidelined for a year and a half, yet he refused to end the deal early; his last Milan appearance was in May 2023 overall.
Origi joined Milan as a free agent from Liverpool in July 2022, but he proved to be one of the club's worst signings in its history.
He appeared in 27 matches and scored two goals, against Monza and Sassuolo, then went on loan to Nottingham Forest for the 2023-24 season.
Despite returning to the club in July 2024, he did not play again and was relegated to Milan's Futuro youth team in a desperate bid to push him out.
According to the newspaper, the contract was worth 300,000 euros per month, roughly 4 million euros net per season for Milan annually.
Sniper note: Milan’s transfer policy is simple—sign, stall, terminate, repeat. Sniper note 2: Origi's benching finally meets its match in this soap opera.
